Lying north of Hurghada on the west coast of the Red Sea, el Gouna was founded twenty five years ago by Orascom Hotels & Development (OHD). The town stretches over 10 km of beach and embraces 18 spectacular hotels and 24,000 residents spreading across islands and lagoons. Boasting a superb infrastructure, excellent array of services, sandy beaches, ideal temperatures to welcome visitors all year round with a short flight from Europe, the town was once a popular destination before 2011.
After the fall of tourism in 2011, OHD decided to cooperate with technology and go the extra mile. Helping the tourism industry became a cause and OHD decided to positioned itself as an “Environmentally friendly community” and become one of the world’s top green destinations. The idea was to turn it around into a full community that will both attract and fully satisfy vacationers, residents and business travels as well, to contribute and play a major role in reviving the industry again.
Created a competitive advantage, guest comfort allowing customer loyalty. El Gouna has been recognized as Egypt's most environmentally friendly holiday destination. In addition, hotels were able to increase their rates from £75 (in 2014) to £100 per night.
Since the establishment of a General Directory in 1926, this governmental organization has expanded from no diplomatic missions abroad to a total number of 77 embassies, 13 Consulates, 3 resident delegations, and commercial offices.
After a huge hacking incident, security became the #1 demand as the first step to accommodate to the broad vision of the project, which is to create a global network, securely binding and facilitating the communications of 3,000 users distributed across the sphere.
Using a smart infrastructure and today’s UC technologies, we virtually converted their global network of embassies into one office. The solution consisted of a scalable MagiXOffice solution built on Cisco IP Phones including DX (Android) range, featuring Secured Phone Lock, IP Paging, Single-Sign On, and HyperDirectory.
A survey established among the entire organization has shown that 92% of people had acknowledged a dramatic improvement in the overall quality of communications, and 95% of the customer’s IT administrators accredited the elevated level of security that they needed. The survey also reflected an enhanced level of employee collaboration by an astounding 150%.
A hotel that is currently in development at the New Administrative Capital in Egypt will be taking up approximately 10 acres of land that accommodates 750 rooms. Further planned developments include 100 more acres, accommodating 30,000 residential units, 400 villas and 120 townhouses, in addition to a mall, conference hall, and lake area.
The biggest challenge was to accommodate to the broad vision of this project, which is to create a global city with a smart infrastructure and take advantage of the sustainable technologies of today, as well as be adaptable to future technologies while supporting a healthy lifestyle.
Our solution was to roll out IP Telephony, IPTV and Mobility solutions for IoT readiness, and to expedite day-to-day services like Smart parking, location awareness, entertainment and in-house guest services, regardless of the interface used by the guest (Mobile, IPTelephone or IPTV).
We have successfully fulfilled the general vision of the project and improved the overall quality of life by using urban informatics and technology that helped improve the efficiency of services and meet residents’ needs.
Abraj Elbeit is a built-up area of 1.8m square meters. The site area consists of a 13-story podium, housing, retail facilities, food courts, specialty restaurants, car parking and mechanical areas topped by seven towers reaching up to 550 meters. The project has a capacity for 75,000 residents and over 800 retail outlets.
The project needed state of the art technology and convergence that enables communication between video, voice and data to serve for the facilities and tenants.
We used our IPTV and IP telephony applications to help meet the above mentioned challenges and best serve the project as a whole.
The implementation of our smart solutions and technologies helped create a competitive advantage, enhancing the guests’ comfort, and thus guaranteed customer loyalty.
